now while it can be hella frustrating having to deal with the thunder cloud, it isnt all bad, it honestly fits with the strategic and competitive nature of the game, as with the thunder cloud, you are given a marginal boost in speed as well as the ability to drive on terrain without being penalized in terms of speed, and you can pass it onto someone else so they get shocked (or you if you dont pass it)
so, with how it works, it immediately offers strategic advantages which otherwise would require a star or boost items, and this is the immediate benefit of the item, it inherently emphasized strategy and quick planning on how to utilize it to the best of your abilities; you can either play it safe and immediately pass it on, or you can keep it long enough to do a shortcut or pass a few people before passing it on (or if youre a masochist, get shocked intentionally) both providing new strategic and competitive ways to play
the item also pretty much is like one of the more chaotic items for mario kart wii, and whats mario kart wii without chaos, amirite? ¬w¬
